Once the Career Cruising Research is completed, make arrangements to job shadow a mentor who works in the career path that you have selected.Complete the "Job Shadow Request Form for the High School Office Attendance" and submit one week prior to job shadow experience, then submit the bottom portion for the absence to be excused. The beginning of the "Job Shadow Experience" form should be prepared prior to the job shadowing experience.
Use a job listing site or page to find a job that is associated with this career. You will write a resume and cover letter as though you were applying to this job! Include the job posting, resume, and cover letter in the portfolio.
Instructions are included that help you print your Community Service hours from Skyward. A minimum of 20 hours of community service is required to be completed and entered into skyward by the counseling office before your interview in order to graduate.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AT LEAST 20 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED WELL BEFORE YOUR EXIT INTERVIEW, YOU WILL NOT GRADUATE!
The portfolio serves as a record of the learning process that occurred through the entire project. You will create an online portfolio and a hard-copy portfolio. A hard-copy portfolio (3-Ring binder) may be purchased or signed out from the high school library. (Please note that if you sign a portfolio out from the library that you will be responsible for returning the portfolio or an obligation will hinder graduation.)
Students will be assigned a date and time for the exit interview. Bring the portfolio to the exit interview. During the interview, you will be asked questions about your career research, job shadowing, resume, cover letter, community service as well as your experiences at Conrad Weiser.
