The Decisions Program at Conrad Weiser is a
special education program located on the grounds of the Bethany Childrens Home
for secondary school-age students who are experiencing significant behavioral
difficulties in their current school setting.
Who qualifies for this
program?
Students who have been
identified as exceptional with significant behavioral and/or social problems
and require a highly structured environment to achieve educational success.
What is the goal of this program?
To assist students in developing the social skills, while maintaining
academic instruction, necessary to be successful in the public school
setting.
What approach is used to attain this goal?
A multiple level behavior management system with clearly defined expectations
and instruction in social interaction. The program also provides a low staff
to student ratio and small class size.
Are there any other
services offered at Decisions?
Yes. There is a social worker on staff for individual and group therapy. A
school psychologist is also available on an as needed basis.
Can a Decisions student participate in a vo-tech or work experience
program?
Yes. Our transition coordinator acts as a liaison with the Berks Career and
Technology Center. Additionally, the transition coordinator works with
students from career exploration to work placements.
Who provides transportation?
The resident school district provides transportation for the students.
Is this program only for Conrad Weiser students?
No. The Decisions Program does accept students from neighboring school
districts based on the qualifying needs as stated earlier.
